ABOUT THE CHAMBER
The Hazlehurst Area Chamber of Commerce has a very active membership. The Board of Directors with
the help of the membership plans and carries out several major functions each year. The Hazlehurst
Chamber works with the Chambers of Crystal Springs and Wesson to improve Copiah County. The
Chamber office is located in the old railroad depot building at 138 North Ragsdale Avenue. The

The overall purpose of the Hazlehurst Area Chamber of Commerce is to promote particular programs
designed to enhance the business climate, quality of life, and community awareness, and to represent
the interests of its members.
The Hazlehurst Area Chamber of Commerce is non-partisan, non-political and non-sectarian.
The Chamber works closely with Copiah County Economic Development.
A ten member Board of Directors, which is selected by the entire membership, governs the Chamber.
The Board of Directors meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 12 noon at the Chamber office in
the Depot Building. The work of the Chamber is carried out by the following committees: MEMBERSHIP,
GRANTS, EDUCATION, PROMOTIONS, MUSEUM, MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION. The day to day
business of the Chamber is the responsibility by the Excecutive Director who also serves as the
Manager of the Hazlehurst Depot Museum. The Chamber and the Museum are located in the old railroad
depot building at 138 North Ragsdale Avenue and are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00
PM.
The Chamber sponsors or participates in many activities including the following:
- State Wide Chamber Meeting
- Relay for Life – Bank Night at Trustmark Bank
- The Executive Director is a member of the Keep Copiah County Beautiful Board
- The Executive Director serves and manages the Hazlehurst Depot Museum
- The Chamber works with Keep Copiah Beautiful in cleaning up the area from Highway 51 to
the I-55 North Exit - Memorial Day Program at the Copiah County Court House (responsible for the speaker,
programs and refreshments) - Mississippi Market – Showcase for Mississippi products and services
- Annual Fish Fry – Fundraiser
- Participates with Crystal Springs and Wesson at TEAM CITY – sponsored by Entergy
(showcases Copiah County and Hazlehurst) - Veterans Day – at the Copiah County Courthouse (responsible for the speaker, programs and
refreshments) - Project Homestead (showcases agencies, financial & medical services in the county)
- Christmas Parade (along with the City Board), also working to get new decorations for our
town and encouraging each business to decorate - Yearly Banquet – good speaker, good program and excellent food
- Ribbon Cutting for new businesses (just call and give us a date and time)
- Quarterly Luncheon meeting with different speakers (the Chamber buys the meal)
- Newsletter (quarterly)
- Answering almost daily requests for information about Hazlehurst and Copiah County
All Chamber activities are approved by the Board of Directors.
